In addition to writing profiles of well-known artists my beat includes covering off-the-beaten track stories about lesser known artists: e.g., burlesque, sideshow, and vaudeville performers. I also like to explore unexpected conflicts experienced by performing artists, e.g., Jewish feminist performers in the Muslim world; and the experiences and reflections of senior artists.
Crain's New York Business, American Theatre magazine, Film Journal International.
I was a on-staff feature writer for Backstage for 15 years ('97-2012) writing profiles, covering trends and news events. I also wrote for the Washington Post's TV Week and a host of women's publications.

I've won two National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards from the Los Angeles Press Club (2016), three New York Press Club Awards (2013, 2014, 2015), two Simon Rockower Awards (2014, 2015), and I was a 2014 finalist for a Deadline Club Award.

My book, "JEWISH ART TODAY, News, Views, and Cultural Trends," a compilation of my stories first printed in the FORWARD, was published by Hadassa Word Press

.

In 2013 I won the New York Press Club Award for my story on Jewish theater artists performing in Muslim world (THE JEWISH DAILY FORWARD). For the same piece I won the 2014 Simon Rockower Award.

I was also a 2014 Deadline Club Award finalist for my story on the new generation of magicians (THE JEWISH DAILY FORWARD).

Prior to my years at Backstage I was a feature writer with the now defunct Theater Week and a frequent contributor to the Washington Post's "TV Week."
