Sally Fingerett of The Four Bit**in’ Babes Releases Solo Project,
The Mental Yentl Book: STORIES from a Lifelong Student of Crazy.
The Mental Yentl CD: SONGS from a Lifelong Student of Crazy.

COLUMBUS, OHIO (October, 2015) – Green Fingers Music and Press has released The Mental Yentl: Storiesfrom a Lifelong Student of Crazy, a new memoir by singer-songwriter and essayist Sally Fingerett. The book joins her newly released greatest hits double CD appropriately titled “The Mental Yentl: Songs from a Lifelong Student of Crazy.”

Fingerett has toured the country for the last 25 years as a founding member of female super group The Four Bit***n’ Babes, creators of the stage comedy Hormonal Imbalance, A Mood Swinging Musical Revue. Her songs have been recorded by Peter, Paul, and Mary and many others.

As an essayist, Fingerett’s stories have been published in humor collections like Life’s a Stitch (Random House) alongside her idols Erma Bombeck, Gloria Steinem and Molly Ivins. The Mental Yentl is Fingerett’s first full-length tome.

A celebration of the next generation of Jewish daughters.

“As a working mother, devoted wife, and dutiful daughter, my story is much like that of my contemporaries. As a creative writer and composer, I observe life’s day-to-day moments through my own twisted and wacky view-finder, finding myself inspired to write songs that document and make light of the crazy making minutia that fills our lives. As a touring performer, I would introduce these tunes on stage with comedy bits and schtick that I have now put down on paper, in a creative-non-fiction-book-memoir-kinda’ way. The stories are the vignettes from this Jewish Daughter’s life, and the songs serve as soundtracks to those experiences.”

The volume brims over with laugh-out-loud anecdotes and heartwarming tales of Fingerett’s challenges as the life-long-designated care-giving daughter to a manic-depressive mother. Juggling career and family responsibilities, Fingerett’s fate included a year with paralyzed vocal cords, a divorce, a remarriage (thank you JDate!) with the blending of three teenagers, and the loss of both parents, all while working as a touring composer/musician. These stories are served up with humor, compassion and ultimately acceptance, laying the foundation for Fingerett’s career defining catalogue of songs. Commonly, people wonder how and why a song was written, and this book offers a view from the bridge between living a life and creating art from it. Lyrics are included as well, providing insight into the creative process of a songwriter.

The 2-disc career-spanning compilation includes 34 tracks remastered from the artist’s five solo CDs, her Bit**in’ Babes contributions, as well as many new songs produced especially for this recording. The book and double-disc are sold separately. (All cover illustrations by Flash Rosenberg)

As of this writing, Fingerett is booked to appear in 2016 at Jewish Federation events in Toledo, OH, Collier County, FL, and JCC’s in Columbus OH, and Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She is organizing a national book and concert tour to promote The Mental Yentl Project. For more info go to or email Sally directly at
