The afternoon plenary focuses on Israel from three vantage points—from the Knesset, through the eyes of the residents of Southern Israel who have braved rocket attacks for more than a decade, and from students on North American college campuses, the new frontline in the battle to defend Israel. Plus, a special appearance by an Academy Award-winning Jewish actress.

Fresh off a 10-month stint as a senior adviser on Secretary of State John Kerry's peace team, David Makovsky shares his analysis and takes questions. Since finishing his government stint, David has returned to The Washington Institute, where he is the Ziegler distinguished fellow and serves as director of the Project on the Middle East Peace Process.

This session will focus on ways that one can tell better, deeper stories using interactive tools that range from video, audio and other new web technologies. The program will provide examples of effective multimedia storytelling, including real case studies from the speaker's past and current roles as the editor of a Jewish newspaper and now in the corporate world, as well as from variant local, national and international Jewish and secular media outlets.

Business Breakout Roundtable Session: "Beyond ROP - Revenue Generating Ideas from Others"
Facilitators: Kevin Adelstein, Publisher & CEO, Cleveland Jewish News, Craig Burke, WJW Media Group, and Linda Maslow, Founder and CEO, The Maslow Media Group

Craig Burke, Publisher & Chief Operating Officer, WJW Media Group and Kevin S. Adelstein, Publisher & CEO, Cleveland Jewish Publication Company will lead a group roundtable discussion as they present examples of how local media groups are looking beyond ROP and turning to (sometimes) non-traditional revenue opportunities to achieve revenue results. Joining the discussion will be Linda Maslow, from The Maslow Media Group. Linda has worked with journalists and newspapers around the world and her company is now celebrating its 25th year in business and has grown to a $40 million dollar company. Bring your own success stories to the roundtable as we’re looking for several “takeaways” from the important business session.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, we celebrate Jews in the armed forces, from soldiers to chaplains. The winner of Israel’s version of American idol, the daughter of refugees airlifted from Ethiopia, leads us in Hatikvah. We recognize Federations’ young leaders and hear a vision for the Federation movement. And we’ll be addressed by one of Israel’s top political leaders.
