  • 2022 Wild Card Category: Award for Excellence in Writing about Jewish Summer Camps
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed just about every institution around us, including summer camps. In 2020, almost all camps were closed; in 2021, they faced new challenges as they carefully welcomed campers and staff who'd spent the last year largely socially isolated. Jewish summer camp often is vital in helping kids develop their Jewish identity, strengthen their ties to the community, and shape their future as members of that community. This award recognizes a single story or series of articles exploring and describing Jewish summer camps', campers', or staff members' experiences during this unusual summer.
