Malka Margolies grew up in a home in Kansas City filled with 7,000 books and now has her own eclectic library of 4,000 books. She is a graduate of both Brandeis University with a bachelor’s degree in Near Eastern Judaic Studies and Northwestern University with a master’s degree in journalism. She is a former publishing executive and has worked at Random House and Book-of-the-Month Club, Inc. Among her favorite authors to both collaborate with and read include Diane Ackerman, Gay Talese, Allan Gurganus, Maya Angelou, Eric Lustbader, Michael Pollan, Clarissa Pinkola Estes and countless more. She also worked at CBS News as the press representative for “CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood” and “48 Hours.” Most recently she was the communications director at The Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale and is currently a freelance publicist and book consultant. She has published several essays over the years, including one in the now defunct city section of The New York Times about the West Side development in Manhattan put up by the former occupant of the White House.
